Zagreb - Johann Weikhard von Valvasor, 1689. (Historical Wall Art)

This city view print gives you a rare look at old Zagreb, labeled Agram, drawn in crisp, fine lines on a warm parchment style background. It feels calm and readable on the wall, and it fits naturally in a study, hallway, or library-style home decor next to wood, books, and simple frames.

About this print

This print is based on a Zagreb view published in 1689. in Johann Weikhard von Valvasor’s Die Ehre deß Hertzogthums Crain (also known as The Glory of the Duchy of Carniola). The work is a large illustrated survey of the region and includes hundreds of copperplate engravings of places and landmarks.

“Agram” is the older German name for Zagreb, which is why you see it used in historical prints like this.

If you enjoy city views that capture a place right before it changes, Dubrovnik (Before The Earthquake, 1660.) is another strong example of that same “last glimpse” feeling.

Craft & finish
Every replica we make is individually hand-processed in our family workshop. We finish the paper with a traditional beeswax seal to give it a warm, heavy texture. Our team also adds subtle gold paint details by hand to help the artwork truly shine. To complete the look, we hand-burn the edges to give each piece the feel of a true historical artifact.

While our smaller sizes are perfect for gallery walls, our 43x61 cm Large replica is a museum-scale centerpiece. Because of the size, the hand-processing and beeswax application take much longer. This extra time and care ensures that every centimeter of the historic illustration is preserved with a rich, authentic glow.
