About this print
This print shows Punica granatum (pomegranate) from Köhler’s Medizinal-Pflanzen, a late 19th century German herbal published in three volumes (1887., 1890., 1898.) with color images made by chromolithography. The page reads like a careful lesson: a flowering sprig, the fruit, and seed cross sections laid out with clear labels, so you can understand the plant at a glance.
What makes it so satisfying on the wall is that it balances “pretty” and “precise” without trying too hard.
