Iris Florentina (Iris Flower) - Köhler, 19th century. (Iris Wall Art)
This print gives you a pale, clean botanical page that feels calm on the wall. The light blossoms and tall leaves have a soft, airy look, with plenty of open space so it never feels busy. On warm parchment style paper, it frames well as botanical wall art in a bedroom, hallway, or a quiet reading corner, and it blends easily with other art prints for simple home decor.
About this print
This print is based on Iris florentina (often called Florentine iris) from Köhler’s Medizinal-Pflanzen, a late 19th century German herbal published in volumes in 1887, 1890, and 1898, with color images made using chromolithography, a 19th century color printing process.
What makes this one interesting is the balance between softness and structure. You get the elegant blooms, but also the clear “reference page” feel that made books like this useful. Iris species like this are also tied to orris root, which is the dried rhizome used in perfumery for its violet-like scent.
If you compare it with Lavender, you will see the same clean layout and easy-to-read style, just with a different plant shape and mood.
Craft & finish
Every replica we make is individually hand-processed in our family workshop. We finish the paper with a traditional beeswax seal to give it a warm, heavy texture. Our team also adds subtle gold paint details by hand to help the artwork truly shine. To complete the look, we hand-burn the edges to give each piece the feel of a true historical artifact.
While our smaller sizes are perfect for gallery walls, our 43x61 cm Large replica is a museum-scale centerpiece. Because of the size, the hand-processing and beeswax application take much longer. This extra time and care ensures that every centimeter of the historic illustration is preserved with a rich, authentic glow.
