Rosa Centifolia (Cabbage Rose) - Köhler, 19th century. (Rose Wall Art)

This print feels soft and classic on the wall. The rose has that full, layered look, with pale pink tones that stay calm instead of loud. The clean white space around the plant keeps it easy to read from across a room, so it works well as botanical wall art in a bedroom, hallway, or a quiet reading corner. It also pairs nicely with other art prints if you like a simple gallery wall for relaxed home decor.

About this print

This print is based on Rosa centifolia, often called the cabbage rose, from Köhler’s Medizinal-Pflanzen, a German herbal published in the late 19th. The work was issued in three volumes (1897., 1890., 1898.) and the color images were produced as chromolithographs.

A cabbage rose is known for its many petals and rounded, packed bloom, and you can see that focus here. The page is built to show the plant clearly, like a reference book, with crisp linework and gentle color laid on top. If you compare it with Papaver Rhoeas, you can see the same clean layout and “book page” clarity, just with a different shape and mood.

Craft & finish
Every replica we make is individually hand-processed in our family workshop. We finish the paper with a traditional beeswax seal to give it a warm, heavy texture. Our team also adds subtle gold paint details by hand to help the artwork truly shine. To complete the look, we hand-burn the edges to give each piece the feel of a true historical artifact.

While our smaller sizes are perfect for gallery walls, our 43x61 cm Large replica is a museum-scale centerpiece. Because of the size, the hand-processing and beeswax application take much longer. This extra time and care ensures that every centimeter of the historic illustration is preserved with a rich, authentic glow.
