Artifex is a family workshop that makes hand-finished historical prints. We create wall art that is meant to look calm and authentic once it is in a frame. Our collection includes everything from antique maps and city views to botanical and natural history illustrations.
We make every print using real historical sources. Our process starts with hand-processed paper to create a vintage foundation. We carefully burn the edges to give them an aged look. After the edges are finished, we add small gold highlights by hand to make the details pop.
To finish the piece, we apply a layer of natural beeswax. This gives the print a warm feel that is very similar to old parchment. We can make our prints in custom sizes to fit your space, and we ship our work to customers all over the world.
